Disappointing 8.04

Where we talk about things that aren't Microsoft

Postby hairymnstr » Thu Apr 24, 2008 1:24 am

I wanted to get 8.04 downloading overnight, and of all the disappointing failures to occur, the Ubuntu home page no longer has the count down to release and simply says "Coming soon..."

I say "FAIL".

It's out, download now and wait as the servers fall apart under the load!

Bit annoyed Firefox beta 5 is packaged as standard - unlike betas 4 and below, b5 crashes all the goddamn time for me. And regardless betas should not be included in LTS releases!

yeah, I'm using the kde4 remix and it's as buggy as hell so far. Oh well, wait for the patches I guess.

I think the idea was to include the Firefox 3 beta so that Firefox 3 can be supported in future when Firefox 2 has long ceased to be updated. The upgrade from beta 5 to final isn't nearly as major as Firefox 2 to 3 as well. Having said that, you do wonder if they could have just held off a couple of weeks or so for Firefox to stabilise.
